Craiglands, spital, Wirral
« on: Saturday 22 September 12 22:25 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information, history etc.  on a property in the Spital, Wirral, called Craiglands.

It was build in 1846, and left derelict in the 1980's when the land was subdivided and several houses built in its grounds.

does anyone know the area?  past owners?  who built it?  how it came to be derelict?  etc.

Cheers.

Hi and welcome

www.findmypast.com is the only website which allows you to search the censuses by address

It is a paysite and it's Terms & Conditions prohibit info being published that can only be obtained via subscription so you would need to purchase credits to search for the address from 1851-1911

If you live in the area - you could check electoral rolls at the Records Office or local directories

You would need the name of the road in which it was located if Craiglands was just the house name

As it happens - my family are there in 1820`s -1860`s and can I point out that in census returns it is written as
Poulton Cum Spital
and prior to that was known as Spital Hall...........so - I would imagine if the building was erected in 1846 , you should be looking for an address in Poulton Cum Spital...........I`ll find it on Wiki if I can ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spital,_Merseyside

there you go ...should give you the formal name in 1846 period
I have visited the area many times as my family lived there in Poulton Cum Spital

good luck
