Marriage - Esther Keith & George Lloyd

Please, really need help have searched every which way for a marriage for Esther Keith & George Lloyd

Have birth certificate Harriett Lloyd (1876)  with Esther Ann (formally Keith) & George Lloyd as parents registered in Manchester

1881 census has them in Westminster, London

George Lloyd age 44 born Chester, Cheshire
Esther Lloyd age 31 born Wales, Pontypool
William J Lloyd age 6 born Wales Pontypool
Harriett Lloyd age 4 born Lancashire, Manchester
Esther Lloyd age 3mths born Middlesex, London

Any ideas of where I could find a marriage for these two people would be really appreciated! Would love to get certificate need their father's name to continue.

Hi Pauline,,i have had a real good look also with the same result. Do you have any of the other childrens birth certs?
Have you managed to track George in the 1871 census?

I note George gives 3 different birth years in the 1881/91/01 census.
1837,1840 then 1843.
Esther gives 1850,1855 then 1856,,,in 1901 she is in the census as born in Scotland?

quite puzzling,,,,will plod on

The eldest child in 1881 - William J LLOYD age 6, b Pontypool.

Can't see a LLOYD registration in Pontypool to fit on FreeBMD - but there is a William John KEITH registered Jun Qtr 1874, V11a, P 183

Have three possible births for William registered in Pontypool, Monmouth, Wales. Searching 1884-1886.

William Watkins Lloyd br Q1 1885 (11A 158)

Willie Lloyd br Q2 1885 (11A 130)

William Lloyd br Q3 1885 (11A 152)

No luck finding a marriage. Perhaps they didn't get round to it.

Thanks to all for quick responses - it's a tough one this.

George Lloyd is a very common name but I really thought that Esther would have been easier to find, but that's the thrill of searching family history isn't it!

Thanks Ambly for the William John Keith birth that very well could be another place to look. There is an Esther Keith age 17 servant on the 1871 census Trevethin, Monmouthshire, Wales (town) Talywain - could be her but nothing before that. Maybe one way forward would be to send for that certificate?

Using the Familysearch site there is a baptism a few miles out of Chester but makes him slightly older-
19th April 1835 at Alvenley Parish church
George Lloyd son of John and Sarah Lloyd


In 1851 the only Keith family in Monmouthshire is that of Duncan and Eliza, they are all listed as born Pontypool but I don't think any were, born Scotland like Duncan probably

1871 Esther appears as a maid at the Greyhound Inn age 17, so she probably married in the county?

By the way although they seem hard to find a Duncan Keith of the right age died in Abergavenny 1876 age 76.  The capital K handwritten is probably leading to transcription errors.  Don't take any of this as "for certain"   But I follow any lead until it screams "Wrong"  Fun isn't it
