Lookup St Pancras Cemetery
« on: Saturday 22 September 12 03:15 BST (UK) »
Would be grateful if someone was able to look up the death of

Henry Stanbridge buried 13 May 1896 London Borough of Camden, St Pancras Cemetery (Camden)

also:

Henry Hickmer Oct-Nov-Dec 1895, age at death 52, St Olave Southwark, Vol 1D page 169

It is possible these two may be the same person.  Could be husband/partner (no marriage recorded) of Martha Maria Prynn/Hickman/Hickmer.  Children from this couple have name Stanbridge and Hickman/Hickmer

grateful thanks
Beverley McInnes

Grant Munro Adam Moray, Baird Sheret Dundas Montrose, Mantach Banff

Hi

Unless the death was from unnatural causes e.g. an accident and there was an inquest which was reported in a local newspaper or the person died in an institution such as a hospital and there are records, the only way to obtain further information about a death is to obtain a copy of the death certificate either from the General Registry Office or the local registry office where the death was registered.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

A burial in May in 1896 in Pancras is unlikely to be of someone who died and had their death registered in Southwark in the December quarter of 1895. There were very limited means to preserve bodies at this date, all expensive and bodies had to buried quickly for obvious health reasons. Once a death certificate or the Coroner's permission for burial was obtained the funeral went ahead.

There is a corresponding death registration for the burial in Pancras

Death registered Pancras registration district June quarter 1896
Henry Stanbridge aged 56
Volume 1b page 92

Southwark cemetery burials are not online. You would have to contact Southwark cemetery office to see whether Henry Hickmer was buried in one of their cemeteries.
