Ok I think I may have found something for you....

In 1899 in Kinnitty County Offaly an And(?) Delaney married an Honor ?

If you do decide to get the baptism and get a maiden name, please give me the maiden name and then I can cross reference it and see if it's a match.

You cna then get that marriage record / transcription which will give you their father's names !

Hi there

I have found an Andrew Delaney farming in Kinnity on the Griffiths Valuation in the 1850's.

Maybe he's a father or grandfather of your Andrew ?

On the 1901 Irish Census there are only a few Delaney's left in Kinnitty

OK SO I'm aware that I'm totally losing the run of myself now but hopefully all this will pan out HA !

Anyway on the 1901 census there is a Michael Delaney in Kinnity

Anyway this is him in 1911

He named his first son Andrew Delaney, so I'm putting 2 and 2 together and wondering could this Michael Delaney be the brother of your Andrew Delaney

So, then I found descendents of this Michael Delaney doing his family tree

the free index on ifhf shows an Andrew Delaney baptised in 1859 in Kinnity RC Church to an Andrew and Anne Delaney - I really think this is YOUR Andrew........

Wow Tara.....thank you so much for doing all this research.  I'd still be at it in six months time....  I know in these things everything needs to be cross referenced, but so many of the christian names with this Michael Delaney are replicated in my grannys family.  He has a Julia and my granny was also Julia.  Maggie Delaney was his wife's name and my granny's sister was also known as Maggie. 

Hopefully all the info you have given me will work out and they will end up being the right family.  Can you tell me what ifhf (is it Irish Family History Forum ?).  You have given me plenty of work to be going on with....  Happy Days !! Once again, thank you so much for your great help - Barbara

Did you get the birth cert today that Shane referenced for you ?

If you haven't gotten the birth cert that Shane mentioned then I would recommend that you get the baptism in 1899 of Margaret Delaney to get her mother's maiden name.........

I can then help you cross reference all the other info that I posted.

Please bear in mind that the record you will see of ifhf will be a transcription of the church record - it wil cost about 5 euro to see, a bargain if it gives you the info you need !

Hi, Andrew and Norah (Honora) Delaney were my grandparents on my fathers side, Andrew died in 1936 and Nora in 1953, their son Andrew Christopher died in 1958, Andrew was from Kinnity as far as I know, Norah was from Glandine Arderin, many of her brothers and sisters are buried in Camross Cemetery, she was a Moore by birth. one of her brother's descendants have traced the family back to the beginning of the 19th century, The parents of Nora were Keeshan on the female side, there were Colliers in the previous generation. the last daughter of Andrew and Nora only died in 2009. Hi Paul... thats great news ..looks like we might be cousins  !!  I'm their Andrew and Honora's great granddaugher.  My grandmother was their daughter Julia.  Unfortunately, she died when I was very young and apparently did not really talk to her family.  Would love to send you further information via private message, but am unsure how to do this.
