Brampton - Marriage
« on: Thursday 13 September 12 14:14 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find the marriage of my ancestors John Walker and Bridget Docharty which is supposed to have taken place in Brampton around December 1852.

I'm looking for the names of their parents but I can't find an officially registered Marriage and hoping that the parish records may contain an entry.

Unfortunately I'm not local to Carlisle and would be very grateful if someone researching in Carlisle would be able to have a quick look for me.

Any help or info is much appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Have you found either John or Bridget in 1851, or together in 1861 ?
If so, could we have the census details please.

Kind regards,

Pels.

Yes they are in Scotland in 1861. I can't find either beforehand. John never appears on any census with Bridget, I presume he is at sea when the Census is taken, and he went missing at sea around 1865. I believe they married in Brampton due to a mention of it on one of their children's birth certificates.

Thanks,
Mike
