Hollybrook Hospital Southampton -where was it ?
« on: Wednesday 12 September 12 15:07 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find this as I have a death certificate for a lady who died there in 1941. She died of TB which may or may not be relevant.
I don't know Southampton at all, am researching for an older friend who wants to revisit the city she was born in back in the 1930s & find out where her Mum died.

You may already have done this. If you google Hollybrook Hospital you will info info about Southampton General Hospital & the surrounding area. There is a CWGC Cemetary & new housing complex. Might be worth investigating the current hospital.

Hello pat c, if they had TB chances are they were sent to the western chest hospital, sadly this is no longer there, only a small part remains and it is only a place they keep certain records, it used to stand where the tescos supermarket is located now, this along tebourba way, hope this is of some help, you could try the main hospital records department maybe the still have some records..

Have you tried contacting Southampton City Archives?  They will probably be able to tell you what happened to the hospital and the location of any surviving records.

Hi,
Hollybrook Cemetery is right next to Southampton General Hospital and both have been there for many years.
I would think that is where she died.
There is very little  of the old buildings left now as the Hospital has under gone a vast transformation over the years.
