Family Tyas in Doncaster Workhouse!

Hello Rootschatters,   In the '51 census I have found a trio of children in the Union Workhouse, Doncaster, surname Tyas,  Elizabeth 11,  Richard 9 and John 6, all born Conisbrough.   I then found a child Elizabeth in the '41 census who matched, with her parents Jonathan and Ann in Bawtry, Doncaster.  The problem is, this family, I'm assuming they're all one family, don't appear in any census after those 2!   Where did they go?   Emigrated or what?

A puzzle, my wife's family name is Tyas with some connection to Conisbrough so hence the interest   I also have 12 or 13 other Tyas family trees on the go but they don't appear so far in any of them.

There were four deaths registered under the name Elizabeth Tyas between 1851 and 1861.

The only possible deaths I can find to fit the couple in 1841 :

I don't know how those would explain a six year old John on the 1851 census though ?

The census in 1841 was taken on the 6th June, while the 1851 census was taken earlier on March 30th. This might explain why Richard was written as being 3 months old in 1841 and only 9 years of age in 1851.

Thank you pels, I'll mull these over and see what I think.   Ann Fisher Tyas I have in a file of 'unknowns' so you've added a new fact to her story, thanks.   I've switched my brain to another family temporarily but I'll jump back to this when I've sorted the other out.  I never thought to look at deaths!      I have 15 Tyas trees on the go so it takes some keeping up with.

None of them were baptised at Conisbrough.

Ann Fisher Tyas was buried at Conisbrough 21st Dec 1843 aged 27years
There is an Elizabeth Tyas aged 19 buried on 9th Aug 1860 at Conisbrough
That is the lot I can find matching what you stated.

Ray,

I have transcribed all of Conisborough Parish registers and a large part of Christ Church registers.  The latter was for a long time the church of choice for the union workhouse in Doncaster.  If you would like me to extract from both all mentions of Tyas I am happy to do that however it will take some time to do
