Scotish birth question

Hi, hope i'm doing this correct.  My mum was born in Scotland.  both my folks passed away in 2010 and i was going thru their paperwork. (yes I really been putting it off) finally found my mums certificate of birth, it has no parents plus is was written 17 years after her birth. I know she was fostered to my grandparents but never actually adopted, she would never discuss anything about her childhood although from the snip bits it was pretty good.  Sorry going on..
Does anyone know who/how or where I would start looking for who her parents were. Any help would be appreiciated.

I think this could be what is called a short certificate, which contains only some of the information in the full version. If you have her birth name and date of birth, George should have no problem finding the full version. Good luck!

I bought short form birth certificates for my children years after their births, for sending to various authorities which needed to view them, as they were cheaper than the full form ones.

Go on to Scotlandspeople site and search for her name and date on birth as in is on the certificate you have  - the search will cost 1 credit you will have to buy 30 credits @ £7.00 first. because you mother birth is less than a hundred years you will have to buy an offically registered certifciate - you can do this ON THE SITE by pressing ORDER costs about £10.00 + postage. 

Also the more information you can put on your search the better the shorter the list.  you may only get one hit or a one or two if her number is common. also remember to include middle names or initials if she had any.

Not quite true terianne , if you can find a helpful person who visits either of the 3 centre where the records are available then they can transcribe any B M D entry upto tha last day of the preceding year , in otherwords up to 31st December 2011 for records viewed at the moment

No u can order certificates but u can't view it first all u need all the necessary information

the registrars refer u 2 the site if u need a replacement copy of a lost cert
