Burial Help Please Completed Thanks!
« on: Tuesday 11 September 12 10:07 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am seeking the burial places of husband & wife JOHN & CHRISTINA STEWART.

Christina died 1907 Christchurch but her husband's death date is uncertain between 1891 (when he advertised the sale of land in the Press) and Christina being a widow in 1907.

The couple had 2 children Emma 19 and Wiliam aged 25 who died in a boating accident in 1886. The children are buried at the Anglican Churchyard at Avondale  but so far I have been unable to find the parents.

Their address 1886- 1891 was "Avon Glade" off Stanmore Road Avonlade if that helps!
Very grateful for any help!
Dale

So it seems that William survived the boating accident.
1886/5380 Stewart  Emma  19Y - this is Emma's death registered on 9 Nov 1886

And a William's death registered on 25 Nov 1886
1886/395 Stewart  William  25Y

This may explain his later death

Thanks Eveyone!!
I have all the details of Emma & William's accident. Emma drowned at the time and William succumbed to congestion of the lungs & possibly  a broken heart about 16 days later.

John was my problem - his ages varied Eng- Canada- Eng- Aust so by the time he arrived in NZ there were so many possibilities for his death ???

Now the correct cert can be  ordered with some confidence.
I am very grateful indeed for all the help - particularly Mackaa ;D

Thanks again
Dale

My pleasure - this is the record you need to order from NZBDM - make sure you order the printout not the certificate - a) because it is cheaper b) because it is a copy of the original entry and c) because they will email it so much quicker
