Any ideas on date of this photo?

This is the only photo I have of my great grandfather, Stephen Bumstead. It is on a card mount (obviously cut down slightly) with nothing on the back. Can anyone give me any idea when it might have been produced. it seems to me that it has been "extracted" from another image - presumably a group, work photo, but I have no idea when that might have been taken. Stephen was born in 1844 and died in 1905

He doesn't look very old in the photo.  I would say about 35 to 40 years old. So taken about 1880 ish

A & G Taylor were at 1 Baldwin Street in 1879, so it should date from after then.

The crown on the logo is a Queen's Crown, so pre-1902.

Yes I agree I would hazard a guess at about 1890 - what sort of work did he do? He wasn't on the rivers or docks was he?

He was a stationary engine driver in a saw mills which was in the Bristol docks area. I've always assumed the reproduction & mounting was done after his death in 1905, but Hibee's comment makes this sound unlikely. I agree the original must be from around the early 1880s.
