Beaty & Skelton Families
« on: Sunday 09 September 12 12:05 BST (UK) »
Found my grt x2 grandparents Henry & Martha Skelton & children on the 1851 census Holme Abbey living with Jeremiah & Martha (I think Barnes) Beaty. Next to Henry's & Martha's names written & then crossed out "with uncle". Managed to establish that Jermiah's parents were Andrew Beaty & Mary Skelton. Do not know how Henry & Mary Skelton are connected. Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi there

When you say " Do not know how Henry and Mary Skelton are connected"
Do you mean Martha Skelton??

I would say you accept what it says even though its been struck out.
It could be altered at a later date seemingly. So they might have
thought it more important to put their occupation not the relationship
on that line.
Have you established who Henrys Father was?  Jeremiah had a brother
called Andrew as well as a Father.
They also could be cousins as the family seem to be intertwined dont they?
Most of the children from the different couples seem to have alot of the
same family names.  Jeremiah and Andrew also had a sister called Martha.
regards
Sandymc

Hello Sandymc47
I did mean Mary Skelton as she was Jeremiahs Beatys mother.  Henry Skeltons father was Joseph. Thought the connections maybe the relationship of Mary & Henry.

Hi Woodlea

Have you had a look at the IGI for your family.  There are hundreds
of Skeltons and Beatys in the Wigton and Holme Abbey area.
Have a go on free site IGI batch numbers Cumberland done by
the Latter Day Saints.  There is a chance you can find your family
connections and it is exciting having a look at your old ancestors.

Hi Sandymc
Have spent many hours at my local LDS church & hired quite a few micro feche of Holme Cultram & surrounding areas. Traced my Skelton family back to 1719. Not made the connection with the Beaty family until now.
Thanks for your help.
