A distant relative was orphaned and placed in Leek Union Workhouse Staffordshire. The year was 1901. She was adopted by John and Ann Jane Mansell in July of that year aged about 9 months. Her birth name was Martha Ann Shufflebotham (or Shufflebottom) but the Mansell's changed it to Angelina or Angelika Mansell. The family emigrated to Wymore, Gage Nebraska U.S.A. in July 1907. For some reason they returned to U.K to the same town - Smallthorne Staffs in May 1915. Ann Jane died in 1925 and Angelina appears as the informant on the death certificate as A Mansell daughter. After that I can find no trace of her. John Mansell died in 1942 but she does not appear on the certificate this time.
I can find no suitable marriage or death either in her original name or adopted name. What became of her??? My gut feeling is that she went back to Wymore Nebraska where she had members of her adopted family. I can't find a passenger list with her name on it, only an A Mansell in 1930 going to New York.
If any one has any ideas or can find anything about her I would be so grateful.
