A little bit more substance now....!
A useful thing, as we know, about Scottish genealogy is the importance of middle names for all sorts of reasons.
The use of the surname Dick and Forrest made me wonder if both Robert (use of the Forrest name for his children) and Margaret (again with the use of Dick) could have been illigitimate (leaving aside we can find nothing early for Margaret).
I have just found this on FreeCen and wonder whether it could be Margaret with maternal family in 1851:
James Dick 69, Handloom weaver b. Douglas
Elizabeth Dick (I think maiden name Anderson), 63, Pirnwider b. Carmichael
Margaret Dick, 30, daughter, Handloom Weaver, b. Douglas...mother to young Margaret?
Jane Dick, 25, daughter, Handloom Weaver, b. Douglas
Elizabeth Thomson, 5, granchild, (illegitimate child) b. Douglas
Robert Thomson, 3, granchild, (illegitimate child) b. Douglas
Margaret Dick, 2, granchild, (illegitimate child) b. DouglasAddress: Clyds Land, Douglas
This looks to be the family in 1861:
James Dick 19 (age mistrancribed), head, Pauper Formerly Coll Weaver b. Douglas
Margaret Dick 12, granchild, b. Douglas
Jane Dick 10, granchild, b. Douglas
Agnes Dick 5, granchild, b. Douglas
Christina Dick 2, granchild, b. Douglas
Address: Clydes Land, Douglas
Margaret Dick shows as mother to both Agnes and Christina:
