It was sent to me on a CD by a descendant of James, the descendant didn't scan the whole photo or the back of it, if there was any writing.

There won't be any printing on this type of mount. But a re-scan of the outer edges might be helpful if there is a photographer's stamp.

At a guess, around 1910 or so.

James died in 1896, so the photo would have been taken earlier.
