Algeo
« on: Thursday 06 September 12 14:09 BST (UK) »
My great grandfather was John Algeo, an irish leather merchant who by the late 1800's was in Upper Parliament Street in Toxteth.  I know photos of his business at 326 exist and was wondering if anyone knew where I could look or if anyone knows anything about him. He was also at Brownlow Hill and Trafalgar Street.
I suppose he was the founder of A.Algeo Ltd of today.  I have some family photos and I know my mother was very fond of him.
Thanks!

What exactly are you looking for about Mr Algeo ,
he was a bootmaker on his marriage record and his father was Lewis a farmer

there are quite a few mentions of  farmers called Lewis Algeo in Griffins directories of Ireland

Thank you for that, I have never got further than he came from Ireland, I have to admit, I hadn't a clue where to look.
I should love to see the photos of the shop and street, my sister 'borrowed' them from someone, or somewhere in Liverpool but I don't know where and she sadly died a few years ago, there don"t seem to be any copies.  I have inherited all the family records now both my brother and sister have died and am just picking up the pieces.
I also rather hoped that there might just be some other Algeos out there with more information than me!

Thanks for your help, I'm most grateful.

The name of his house   Innismore
I wonder if that is some thing to do with his birth background,
