Ah, ...thank you Carole, ...and William.
Yes, William provided me with the 1847 marriage, ... as I stated, I wasn't sure if I was posting in the right place, but I do hope I'm not stepping on toes either, and mucking up the system.
I did request this info some time ago, hit the usual brickwalls, and after some amount of frustration had a meltdown, ...so I quit for a time. Changed internet provider, ...couldn't log back in, gave up again, ...then had a fresh crack at it recently. But I am making progress, I am happy to say. The thing is I just wish my name was anything other than Jones, ha ha. But no, I am so proud of my name.
Thanks to another Rootschat member I now have a photograph of my g-grandfathers grave at Port Chalmers, Dunedin NZ, and I will make it my duty to go there and place a plaque to his memory, because I feel he died alone without family and was buried a pauper. Don't know the circumstances, ...but I'm working on it. Something will turn up. This is why I have a need to find Jones descendants in the UK, ...because these people are also relatives, ...I'm just not sure how to go about it. It is so, so sad how families just drift apart with the passage of time.
Cheers from Australia,
David J
