Hi. I have a scenario which I'm trying to get my head round and I'm hoping that one of you guys who are up to speed on irish habits might be able to clarify.
I have a Baptism entry lifted from ancestry which provides the following information:
(female) Mctrustry
born 12 Apr 1865, Doagh, Ant, Ireland
"Baptism Place: 18, Doagh, Ant, Ireland"
parents- Charles Mctrustry & Elizabeth Mcmurray
Note that the child has no name.
Initially I thought that that it was a stillborn child BUT... on looking at a recently advised resource Ancestry Ireland I discovered this detail (note that the parents are the same)
Ulster Historical Foundation
Margaret McTrusty
born 19/05/1865, bapt. 19/05/1865 ST ANNE'S (REV J H DEACON)
www.ancestryireland.comNow, I know it's fairly simple to simply say that it's the same person because one is perhaps a birth record of an unnamed child (because a name had not been picked) and the other is baptismal record (the child having been named in the interim). My big problem though is Doagh in the first record and Shankhill in the latter and they are about 20miles (or more) apart.
Hence (I hope) a local can explain this odd scenario.
Thanks
Steve
