William Fitzgerald Oswestry
« on: Friday 31 August 12 00:28 BST (UK) »
Hi.  I am at my wits end trying to find this fellow!  My Fitzgerald's are all from Oswestry, and I have so much information on them, however I have one man that I have discovered and I can't fit him into the family.  William Fitzgerald was born about 1834 Oswestry and I have no idea who is parents were.  I have found him in two census' 1881 and 1891.  He married an Elizabeth Unknown, and had two children (Both born Antrobus) Ann and Henry.  I have been told that all early Fitzgeralds in Oswestry were related and can't fit in this family.  How can I find his parents?  And what happened to his wife and children?  They have all disappeared and I am going crazy.  Any help with this family, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Jo Aus

PS just bumping this up to help our new R/C out ok, although the marriage cert may be the best course of action!

Have you considered this one? He's few years older but the only William Fitzgerald in Oswestry in 1841

HO107/915/7/4/1
Willow Street, Oswestry

May or Mary Fitzgerald, 45
Samuel, 20, Attornies (sic) Clerk
William, 15
Joseph, 12
All b. County except May/Mary

Apart from a Sarah at HO107/915/7/13/18,  this is the only family of Fitzgeralds in Oswestry in 1841

Hi Brevitas, considered that one, but throughout the later returns he shows on, and also the death I posted, he is pretty consistant with b c 1833/4?

There would be a big age difference between him and Elizabeth. It's not uncommon for ages to be adjusted on censuses to take this into account. Alternatively, he might have been wrongly aged on the 1841.  Never trust a census age!

It's the only Fitgerald family in Oswestry in 1841. My money's on this one.
