Anybody recognise cap badge

I am trying to trace my grandad's war records all i have is a photo of him in hospital blue's i am assuming this was WW1 he was born in 1883. His name is Harry Taylor as you would imagine when i do a search on Harry Taylor there are hundreds of them just hoping the cap badge my be able to narrow it down a little if anybody can recognise it.

Could you post a close up scan of just the badge please, that would make identification easier

Without a high res image of the cap badge trying to ID it properly is difficult but as a starter going by the shape and form of it I would look at The Duke of Wellington's Regt (the West Riding) but as Radlad says a better scan would help.

Thanks for your help, I have added a high res scan of the badge but I don't think it will help any it is only a small photo and of poor quality it losses quality as you blow it up i can not get a clear image. West riding sounds a good starting point, i think he would have been living in Radcliffe Lancashire when he signed up but it is possible he could have been lining in cheshire.

It looks like the 17th Lancers cap badge.

Personally, I think identification will be guesswork as the blow up is too vague. Have you tried researching local papers? There may be a piece about him being wounded. Radcliffe library can be very helpfull in such cases.

There is a Harry Taylor 12789 Duke of Wellingtons Regiment but birth 1885 Resided 4 South Street Kings Cross Lane Halifax. Enlisted 1st April 15 entered France 27.9.15

He was definitely born in 1883 on 28th April. I have done some more checks and he would have been living at Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire when he enlisted. He was bon in Radcliffe, Lancashire.
