Thank you Michael.  Someone above has stated Mayfield wasn't open in 1890 when he died so it must be either St Nicholas in Cramlington, or Blyth Cowpen or Blyth Links.  I believe I've been to Cowpen before, if it's the one which is also a crematorium and has the garden of remembrance at the front before the cemetery. If that is correct a few of my Great Uncles, my Great Grandparents and possibly Great Great Grandparents are there.

 Keiren,

Cowpen cem has a crematorium for the wide surrounding area.
My mother and grandmother are in there. Father and brother
cremated there.
Several of my mother's Gallaghers were buried in a Catholic graveyard
on Cowpen Rd, opposite St Cuthbert's RC church. Graveyard was closed
in c1970s ( council road straightening)

This map , 1897 Ordnance map, 6" version, shows Cowpen cem ( in it's
earlier and smaller days) along Cowpen Road, called Cowpen Lane in those days.

Look at the very bottom right of the map. The Links cem is just off it,
adjacent to Blyth Tile Sheds.

James' burial record is in St. Nicholas parish records therefore he should be buried in the churchyard.

James Scougall, Shankhouse, July 30th 1890, aged 77

I have MI's for Cramlington St. Nicholas and Blyth Old Chapel (Earsdon parish).  No readable stone with the Scougall name.  There are several stones overturned that could not be read.

That's a shame, I was hoping I could see a headstone with his name on it.
