Hampson Brothers Vulcan Motor Manufacturing
« on: Tuesday 28 August 12 02:32 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am in Australia researching family history in Lancashire. My Grandmother's cousins were Thomas and Joseph Hampson who founded Vulcan Motor Manufacturing in Southport, Lancashire. They operated the company between 1902 and 1916. Does anyone know of any book/s that would contain photos, diagrams and detailed information about the company operation between these years of 1902 to 1916. Thank you. John.

Harry Foster is a local Southport Historian. In his book
Crossens Southport's Cinderella Suburb there is a chapter about the Vulcan Works

The book was published by the Birkdale and Ainsdale Historical Research Society.

I've got that book, it's very good and well researched. I saw some copies in Broadhursts Bookshop in Southport last week and I know they are very helpful about finding items for buyers.

The Vulcan Works was later Mullards wasn't it? I've a few relatives who worked there.
