There are two main types of cemeteries in Scotland other than churchyards - those run by the local Council's and those run by private companies.

Depending upon where the burial was and how much information you already have most local councils will search their records for you. Some charge a fee for such a search which can be quite hefty. If however you have the lair details many will perform a look up of their records for free or at minimal cost.
I have no idea if he was buried or cremated ...the only information I have is a copy of his death certificate ..

Where did he live at the time of his death ?

(although this may  not necessarily be where he was buried,  some families tend to use cemeteries/crematoria which have family connections with the area)

He lived in Coupar Angus when he died as far as I know none of his children lived there and he came from Fife originally but left there in 1930s

findagrave shows 13 interments for a cemetery in Coupar Angus. Not sure if it helps but here you go.
