Trying to find birth records for JANE ELVERD.

The 1841 census gives her age as 74 and birthplace as Somerset (possibly Frome).

Her birth year is therefore 1767.

Jane married James Wiltshire in 1802.

Struggling to find birth record online even though the name Elverd is unusual. Can anyone possibly assist me?

Jane was 35 when she married James, the chances are, that she had been married before. Therefore, the name that you have, was her married name, and not her birth name.

I see from the transcripts of the Hampshire Parish Registers that Jane and James were married at Hurstbourne Tarrant in Hampshire on 23 October 1802.  There is nothing recorded for either party in these records to indicate that either were widowed at the time of their marriage.  Of course this record is a transcript only of the original, however looking through I notice that when a party to a marriage was widowed or from a different parish ( to Hurstbourne Tarrant)  this was also noted and recorded in the registers.
