I am researching the surname ARMSTRONG,particularly in AGHAGALLON.
I know that it is a popular surname now but I am interested in the families in and around the 1850's.

Hi Wendy: I may have touched base with you before so please let me know . I am looking for the family of 6 Close brothers. Robert, Alexander and James came to Baltimore Maryland between 1830-1845. We believe the other 3 bros. Hugh, John and William went to Canada. We know the names are accurate from the will of James Close who died in 1889 in Maryland. He mentioned his bros. who lived in Ne?anee Canada. He also had a nephew named James A. Close, who was a doctor and we think this James is the son of one of the Close bros. in Canada. The James who died in 1889 married very late in life and had no children. We think the parents of these brothers were named William and Sarah (Preston) Close. My line is Robert who married Margaret Stewart from County Down. We have a lot of info. of both Close/Stewarts once in Baltimore Maryland but cannot find them or their families in their native home of Ireland. Any suggestions? My e-mail is (*) Thank you

We have been in touch...the place in Canada may be Nepean, or Napanee??? I have a collection of "Close" info...will have a look and get back to you..;.I have your email address so will email you directly....Unfortunately quite busy at the moment with a work project, so may take a few days...

I have only just seen your message re Swan from Co Antrim.  My Great Grandmother was called Mary Jane Swann, married to Robert Lyttle on 14/3/1873 at Ballymena 3rd Pres Kirkinriola.  Her father was called William, this is the only info I know at present.  Does this strike a chord?
