We're getting back into the business-as-usual after the work we did last year, and our next update isn't far away now folks. We'll be releasing:

Hastings Standard (1896-1920)
Star (extending the current range to 1917)
Press (up to 1935)
Westport Times (widening the current collection to 1868-1884, and also issues from 1886)

I might be out of the office and offline around the release time, but I'm guessing it will be around mid-feb. Enjoy!

I just want to add my thanks too.   It is most remarkable that I can find what happened to my great uncle in Stockton, England in 1932, in Papers Past NZ and yet the British Newspaper Archives on line have nothing of the account, yet.    (I did get copies of the UK local paper some years ago but these got lost with house moves, so I know it should be there.)

Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but is the Rangitkei Advocate likely to appear online at any stage.

Hi Eyesee, we've done a bit of investigation into the Advocate, across two main date ranges. The pre-1920 dates suffer a bit for having very incomplete issue coverage (around 30% coverage between 1907-1920 for example), and we're having problems identifying the publisher/rights-holder for the post-1920 material, for which we have excellent microfilm coverage available.
Regardless, if there's enough demand for a particular newspaper it will have an effect on our digitisation priorities, so if you're really keen to see the Advocate online, let me know and I'll add your request to the list.

Yes we would like to see the Rangitikei Advocate added.

It is mainly the early issues pre 1900 that I am personally interested in, but there are probably others who have research in the Rangitikei district that would be happy to see any of it. It had a wide distribution area and had some things printed that would not necessarily show up in other local papers.

Many thanks

No problem, I've recorded your request. Thanks Ian!
