I'm with you minniehaha about the digitising of the Waikouaiti & Shag Valley Herald. Had lots of rellies down that way who were miners and my Dad grew up there. Not much of anything there anymore (unless it has had a huge revamp in the years I have been away) I am sure there would be bits and bobs about my Wilson family, am very greatful on what has been digitised already in the ODT as I found the death and name of my Great Uncle who drowned at Shag Point when he was only three, and only just three as he hasn't showed up on the bdm site yet .

Hi Gail,

We could be lucky. I had no idea most of those old newspapers even existed.

I too, am most grateful for the digitising of the the 'Otago Daily Times'. Lots of good family stuff to be found there.

I note you have Wilson on your family tree. The name is not on mine but is on that of a relation from the Blueskin (Waitati) area. If your ancestors came from that region, perhaps you could PM me??

Hi everyone, we've got another batch of papers not too far away, hopefully up by wednesday of next week. The titles being released are a result of our collaborative digitisation program, which means that a fair few public libraries around  the country deserve some big thanks!

Hi all, this is just a very quick note to let you know that there's another 80K pages just gone live on the site - there's now some much better coverage of the historic news outside the four main centres. Enjoy!
