Local Hutt Newspapers.
« on: Monday 20 August 12 00:52 BST (UK) »
Hi All,
Can anyone give my the name and address or email addresses for any of the local newspapers in Upper and Lower Hutt please, my intention is to contact them for prices of posting an ad for a family search.  You guys have been such a help to me in the past I'm sure you will come up trumps.  Thanks.  Malcolm. ;)

Hello Malcolm

Forgive my butting-in here, but I wondered if your proposed family search was for "Eric", and/or his family (as per your earlier thread ?)

If so, then I can tell you that sadly, Eric passed away just a matter of weeks ago.

You can find the cemetery record for "Eric Robert" (d. 4 July 2012) at the following site.

http://www.upperhuttcity.com/cemetery

 >  Click on the link to ... Akatarawa Cemetery Database ... search on surname JONES.

[On Eric's record, click on "Other Interments" where you'll find the record for his late wife, which shows her former address as the same given to you earlier by the Ninness funeral home.]

It seems the Upper Hutt City Council cemetery staff are able to help with enquiries of a "genealogical nature", so it may be they can assist with info for next-of-kin ?

Otherwise, you could contact Messrs. Gee and Hickton, the funeral directors, via  >

Thank you Spades, and Lucy2,

Devastating news, so near yet so far, I am indeed the researcher/relative from earlier Hutt/Jones thread, I always seem to get within touching distance when it is snatched away from me, however, there is a glimmer of hope as Eric's passing is so recent, close family will be very easy to locate from funeral directors it is hoped, I will go for this route first rather than the newspapers.  I was right, you guys haven't let me down, you came up trumps yet again, brilliant, keep butting in you are an invaluable aid.  Thank you!!  Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm

Fingers crossed that you'll have some better luck.   :)

Try the cemetery first (I think there's a link on the City Council's website for direct contact with the Sexton ?)

And do let us know of your progress.   ;)

Hi Malcolm
I still had the newspaper on the recycle pile!!
Have PMd you the details from Eric's notice - just in case the Funeral Directors provide the Privacy Act excuse.
Best wishes
