Isaac Christopher Tordenskjold Moses
« on: Sunday 19 August 12 09:22 BST (UK) »
Hello
Isaac Christopher Tordenskjold Moses was born Nov. 18 1804 in Kristiansund,  Norway. His parents were John Moses, b. 1781 and Anna Holck Tordenskjold, b. 1782, both Kristiansund. I have had discussions with others on the Cumberland-forum, regarding the Moses-family in Kristiansund, who came from both Cumberland and Northumberland. This thread holds a lot of background information.
Se the thread here.

I have a shipmanifest that shows a departure for Newcastle 1823. A cargoship, "Magdalena & the two daughters (Mgd.lena & 2 D)" from Kristiansund, with 2 passengers; John Allan (Scotsman living in Kristiansund) and Isaac Christopher Tordenskjold Moses. Moses in Kristiansund were related to Thomas Moses, b. 1724 (of Durham) as far as I know now.

I'm looking for any information on ships to and from Norway  in this period. There is a note in a later probate (1849), that Isaac Christopher Tordenskjold Moses left Norway (Trondheim) for England  in 1825 and that his whereabouts is unknown at that time (1849).

I'm interested in any information on the subject.

I have attached the photo of the shipmanifest

Regards
Tom Kaasen

Thank you for taking part in this.

Isaac Christian Moses, b. nov. 1801, is halfbrother of Isaac Christopher Moses, born out of wedlock. He moved to Trondheim and married there. No children in the marriage.

Like explained earlier, a probate states that Isaac Christopher Moses left Trondheim for England appr. 1825. He may have returned from his first journey in 1823. If so, his destination may not have been Newcastle, this second time. His father John Moses, establishes himself as a shipchandler in Limehouse/London. I have a separate posting in Middlesex for him.

It has also been speculated in a possible marriage for Isaac Christopher Moses in England.
