May be just a coincidence- James (Fisherman) and Mary Dourneen with a daughter Marcella 12 yrs living in Arklow in 1901

Family Search has the birth of Marcella Dournian registered October- December 1888 in Rathdrum which would fit with the Marcella birth you quote - other family births are Dournean spelling.

Baptism of Patrick Dournean shows parents as James Dournean and Mary Kavanagh.

Apologies to you both, Heywood and Shane!!
I have been reading this certificate wrongly. You seem to have worked that out!!
You are right - it is James Dournean who is the father of Marcella Dournean with the mother being Mary, formerly Kavanagh. James Dournean being the father and the fisherman.
The names do have their links as my mother was Dorothy Mary Kavanagh b. 1927, in Birkenhead, her father James Ryan Kavanagh, b. 1902 in Birkenhead, and Marcella as shown above.
Is there any trace of Mary Kavanagh in the censuses of 1891, 1881 in Arklow/Wicklow?
Jim

A possible Mary Kavanagh marriage . James Durneen has same page reference.

1901 is the earliest available census. You could send for that marriage certificate to check Mary's father's name - and maybe there would be a clue with address.

Hello Arklow, welcome to Rootschat  :)

Are you posting about the same family? It isn't quite clear.

If you are searching, it is best to post what you already have and what you are searching.

You mention 1924, so the kind of information you may be seeking is quite late. The last census information is 1911, so you would be looking for births/marriages and deaths http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ or electoral rolls etc.

If you could give the information you are looking for, we may be able to help.

best wishes

Arklow,

I forgot to mention that you should not publish the names of any persons who may be living.

I have only mentioned names of those already mentioned on the site. I would never mention a name of a person who is still alive.

Apologies - I may not have been clear there.

I meant that if you are going to post your interests, it is policy not to mention living persons. As the date you quote is 1924- I thought it possible that there would be births etc after that date which may be mentioned. If not then it doesn't matter.
