Iddentifying another unit, more help please. COMPLETED

This is my other photo if unidentified group of military men that belongs to my mother in law, and the last I promise 

It is of a chaplain flanked by 6 men. One man appears to be wearing a medal with a cross on it, 3 others are buglers.  According to the back of the photo the Sgt is Wm Hogarth and 2 of the others are R Terry and C Craggs but there is no idication as to which of the men these names belong to, and none of those names appear (so far) in the family tree.

Also on the reverse is  written Houghton C. L. B.

Hopefully some of this may help identify this unit.

Houghton church lads brigade, the medal is the church lads brigade medal, ie cross and the bar on the ribbon would be the date.

Houghton is where this family is from so looks like one of them is probaly family or a friend of the family.

If you wish to know anything about the Church Lads Brigade, just ask. I am a member of the Historical Group and will be happy to try and answer any questions you may have. There were two CLB companies with Houghton connections. Houghton le Spring, Durham, and Houghton Regis, Ely. Can you say which it is?

Thank you Conijoni, I would be making an educated Guess here but the family in question came from Houghton le Spring so that would be the most likely one.

The Houghton le Spring CLB Company, company number 1686, originally opened in 1900. The 1913 Brigade List indicates that the company had shut down. The photograph shows that it had been re-established. From the collar badges I would date the picture as late 1920s, early 1930s. The lads are at camp, and as the CLB had large area camps, I would guess they were at the North Eastern camp. At one time the Durham Diocese had many CLB companies (60+), today there a handful. Nice photo.

I am attaching an image of a CLB Medal. They were issued for attendance at Brigade and Church. A silver bar was awarded for first class attendance and a bronze bar for second class. The design shows the Armour of God, to protect lads from evil...helmet of salvation, sword of the spirit, breastplate of righteousness, girdle (belt/rope) of truth...from Ephesians chapter 6.
