Hello Irishseeker,
Found a match on ScotlandsPeople for William Wedlock by just entering his name & year of death. Try leaving out his year of birth. (I didn't know birth year or place of death so left them blank)
'Tootsiepie' has already posted a reminder about surname first then Christian name. (Easy to forget if you are moving between other sites like Ancestry & ScotlandsPeople) Also check you have clicked on Deaths in the Statutory Registers down left side of page. Heading should be Statutory Deaths 1855 - 2013.
     Good luck with your search.
               Regards,     Dod.

PS. Has there been a wee slip of the fingers somewhere because, with reference to 'bleckie's' post, if William was 70 when he died in 1882, his birth year would be 1812 not 1821.

thanks toots.I found the bridge and see what you mean.10-11pm,would have been pretty dark, coming home from the pit or maybe pub, don't know yet.He wasn't found until the following day around 4pm.Very sad. I tried again today, for the death cert. but no luck.I have found that if I am low on credits, searches often come up negative. But I will keep trying again thank you for your input,I am so very grateful, just seeing the bridge makes me feel something very familial.thank you Biddy

I have attached a newspaper article which relates to William's death. The article is from The Scotsman - Tuesday 24 January 1882. Your post helped me confirm that Crosshead was also known as Wester Muirhead.
