I've had a quick search of the cemeteries around Gawler and can't find a burial however many of the sites only have records of headstones etc.

Thank you for the information about the deaths I have ruled out the one in Pirie there was a notice in Trove and it is a different family, so Maurice in Gawler looks promising

They didn't have home plots back then did they?  So if he died in Gawler he would be in a cemetery somewhere but may not have a headstone.  You would think he would be registered at the cemetery though
