Looking for James Burt Weymouth area

Looking for the parents of James Burt born arround 1807 married Susanna Zelley in 1831 Fleet Dorset.
Any help would be welcome.

It doesn't give father's names - just witnesses - but at least has the marriage date and a vague spelling of Celey rather than Zelly.

Where did the Zelly name come from?  Another alternative spelling could be Seley? or Sealy? as seen in other marriages in the same church.

Thank you very much, great help.

Susannah's parents were Joseph Zelley and Hannah Lovell, so now i have the the baptism of her sister Sarah Seally.
Thomas and Elizabeth Zelley possible brother and sister of Joseph as two of his children are called by the same name.
Just need to find James Burts parents, do have a possible family in Broadway about the right time that he was born but cannot prove its them.

Have the death cert of James Burt, June 1848, ( saying 41yrs.old.)

No parents names on marriage cert.

Have two possible families for him; one born Fordington to William and Hannah nee Lucas December 1807 which would match exactly
or born 1805 to John and Mary Burt in Broadway.
Help needed.  how do I prove this and where do I go from here to find out which family.
Any ideas would be welcome.

There is at least one other possibility: Familysearch has a James Burt, b 1809 Fordington, son of Richard and Ann Burt (although I couldn't see it doing a quick search of the originals on Ancestry). Richard and Ann married in 1798 and had Ann (1799), Sarah (1803), Martha (1804), George (1806), Sarah (1812) and possibly others.

One of the witnesses on James' marriage was George Burt. Given that Richard died in 1824 (age 55), George would have been a logical witness at the wedding as he was James' eldest (only) brother.

There is an Ann, 67, living in Fordington in 1841.

Nothing is proved, of course; but it is another avenue.

Do you know the names of James and Susannah's children?

If they followed a naming pattern then you may be able to narrow some possibilities.

I would expect a girl Hannah and boy Joseph after her parents.
Looking at the names of the other eldest boy and girl would be interesting,

It is not conclusive of course and works best with unusual names which unfortunately you don't have. Of course it will confuse things if both mothers are called Hannah.

And - also it gets a little messed up if any of the children die and you don't know about them.

A typical naming pattern may be something like this

4th Son ------------------ Father's Eldest Brother

1st Daughter --------------------- Mother's Mother

Also - I like Richard's suggestion of the eldest brother George as witness. You could look to see if any of the other couples had a son George.

Have been  looking   into the family of Richard and Ann Burt, and have got back a couple of generations on Richards side, so here hoping...

.Yes, it is a  very good possibility that it is the brother George on James and Susanna's marriage cert as you said. Its looking good so far.
