William (Willy) and James McLaughlin
« on: Wednesday 08 August 12 21:28 BST (UK) »
Hello there.
I am trying to locate the foster parents / guardians of William (willy) and James McLaughlin.
The family were living in Ballycastle at the time, but there are links to Coleraine  and the surrounding area. The family of 5 children , three boys and two girls were orphaned in 1915. The family was divided and we believe that the girls went to Coleraine and two of the boys William (willy) and James were sent to a farm. We have no other information. I will be posting this in Derry section as well as there is a chance as well that it was in the Coleraine area.

Any info would be great and thanks again.

You haven't given us any idea of when the children might have been born. They will likely be in the 1911 census- have you found them yet?

Hello.
William (Willy) was born 23/01/1910 in Ballycastle
James was born 12/07/1914 in Ballycastle.

I believe that the  two boys would have then been fostered / adopted  or went to live with guardians following the death of their mother Catherine (Cassie) McLaughlin in early 1915

Could this be the family in 1911?

If so,

Catherine Rodgers on same page

Hi Paul

I think we are searching for the same information.  My grandfather would have been James McLaughlin but I never met him. Did you find out any information on the family
