when he abandoned the property and set sail for England.

Tawa

Just wondering if he did return to England, maybe a new thread on the England Board.   What do you say Spades?

Hi Kiwihalfpint,   Thankyou. I checked both of those out and they are 2 of the sons of Hurlstone.

Which still leaves me scratching my head.

Hi Tawa

1928 - Waikato Supplementary Roll

COOK - William Charles Chancellor - Te Miro - farmer

This is the only listing I can see for "William C.C." (and his full name doesn't actually show up on the index).
That he is on a supplementary roll, usually indicates a "newcomer" to a locality (so possibly WCC had recently arrived in NZ ? )

[1928 :  Hurlstone COOK and wife are also at Te Miro but appear on the main Waikato roll. ]

The 1925 NZ Marriage given earlier (to a Viola Louise SPORLE) is not the William Charles COOK you are looking for.
[That man was an engineer, and lived mainly in the greater Wellington area. ]

UK Marriages

Of course he may not have married using his full name (or even in the UK for that matter), but the following seems a possibility ?

Marriages - MAR - 1926

COOK - William C.C.
WHITE - Ivy E.

Reg'd. Bournemouth
(Bournemouth & Christchurch - Hampshire, ENG. )

[or -- William C.C. COOK - Rose LONEY - DEC - 1922 -- reg'd Pontypridd (Wales) ]

Nice work Lu :D   Since Lu has provided the third middle name, I came across this little snippet.

COOK - William C.C.
WHITE - Ivy E.

Hi Tawa

I think the above marriage is most likely.

In 1911 the COOK family (parents Josiah and Emma and children) are living in Bournemouth (Christchurch reg'n district).   ;)
