So we are lucky to get some papers past 1937, the 75 year cut off point as per the previous post; hopefully other papers will waive copyright so we will get more relatively recent records of our rellies.
Craig.

Although not specific to Paperspast
but there are lots of groups that are indexing papers and even at Index NZ you will often find lots of material to follow by this method
plus all the NZSG groups that have BMD indexes/newspaper clipping projects.

Bye

Not sure where I should be putting this response or even if the paper has already been mentioned, but if we can't have THE OTAGO DAILY TIMES, could we PLEASE have more of

THE OTAGO WITNESS.

Would just love to have more from the Otago region.

Fingers crossed!!!

Hi Minniehaha,
Request noted! Just an additional note on the Otago Witness: from the early 20th century it started to include quite extensive photographic supplements, and this could prove to be one of the best sources of images of people from the Otago area of that period. We are investigating whether we could scan this material in greyscale as opposed to the normal 2-colour black and white scanning that we use for Papers Past, because this will give those photographs quite good quality, assuming we can get good-quality microfilm in the first place.
I'm hoping we see some genealogical results from those images - that would be just fantastic to see.

Thank you for noting my request re The Otago Witness. Yes, I am aware of the photographic content of the later editions and any improvement in the reproduction of these would be much appreciated as the quality of those to which we now have access, leave much to be desired when comparing them to the original photographs.

I still live in hope that you may yet be able to extend the range of the Otago Daily Times. (PLEASE!)

Kind regards,

Minniehaha.

Hi

Just wondering, and yes I know I have asked before, but I would be interested to know, if there would be any  chance of the Oamaru Mail becoming available anytime soon, and like minniehaha live in hope of the Otago Daily Times becoming available.

Hi both -

I don't think more issues of the ODT will be coming to Papers Past this year (well, you never know, but it's unlikely) - however we definitely haven't forgotten about it, we're working on it. The Oamaru Mail is a bit deeper in the to-do pile than the ODT at this stage unfortunately, sorry Jericho. We've actually done a bit more (at this stage) on the North Otago Times, which served the Oamaru area, so I hope this is of some consolation.

Hi everybody -

We've got the next batch of Auckland Star coming online soon, we haven't confirmed the exact launch date, but it is very close. The new data goes up to the end of 1926, I'll post here when it's live. It looks like it's going to be quite a hectic year for releases for us, particularly in the next few months. Enjoy!
