Didn't the Sunday Star take over from the Saturday Star and 8 O'Clock?

Cheers

I don't know if it was a national paper or just an Auckland one...

Not national, only Auckland I think. Equivalent in Wellington was the "Sports Post" which came out 8pm Sat with all local sports results of the day. Very popular too. Published in Wellington by the "Evening Post".

As a youngster (12 or 13) I used to deliver the "Sports Post" around the Hutt Valley, NaeNae and Taita areas every Saturday night -  a great evening for tips, mainly from those jovial characters who had had far too much to drink.

Hi everyone -

We have another newspaper selection meeting later this week, and I was wondering if anyone would have any other newspaper titles (in addition to the ones we've mentioned in this forum previously) they'd like to nominate.

Are there any titles you'd like us to start investigating? If so, just reply and let me know.

Cheers!

In the 1950s there was a newspaper distributed in the Wellington Area in competition with the Evening Post, it may have been The Southern Cross or something similar -  I believe it was affiliated with the Labour Party.  This may be Worth considering.

Hi PapersPast,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make suggestions  ;D

I'd like to see some papers from Golden Bay.
The local GB Museum advises they have the following papers in their collections, but there might be more copies available elsewhere?

The Takaka News 1896
The Golden Bay News 07/05/1908
The Golden Bay Argus 12/3/1908, 19/03/1908
Golden Bay Times - (various dates in quite a delicate nature)  1914, 1917-1920, 1926-1929
