Merry Christmas!
I think in the 1960s/70s there were 2 publications that should be considered for the future!

1. In Wellington there was a supplementary to the Evg Post (I think) named the "Sports Post" (?)  Every Saturday they had a page or 2 of photos of various social events which had taken place the previous week- I know I have several clippings of "social appearances " in various stages of inebriation which future historians will gloat over! :-[

2. Almost every city had "The PHOTO NEWS " depicting many weddings  and identifying those elusive witnesses!

AS I have already appeared as "deceased" because of my name on a younger sibling's headstone by NZ SoG  and also appear in National Archives Gateway I'd prefer you wait a decade or 3 for publication of proof of my sinful youth! ::)
Merry Christmas all
Dale

Thanks Helen! What great links - do you know if the Tairawhiti Museum hold many other regional Photo News titles?

Hi all
I have discussed before my hopeless search technical knowledge
this tip was given on another newslist
for searching via google,,,
the example was for info on W J Suiter 1887 and they added l=m for no maori pages

"W.J. Suiter" 1887 -"l=mi" site:http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz

Well worth playing around with for your own examples
Bye

Hi Althea,
That is a very useful hint, but I think it needs a little more explanation.  ;D

Languages:
To get results showing only pages in Maori add  "l=mi"   (mi is the operator for Maori)
To exclude pages in Maori add    -"l=mi"             (there should be a space before the minus sign)
exclamation marks required where shown above.

Sites:
To get results from only one site add  site  then the URL
e.g. to limit search results to pages from PapersPast.
site:http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz
no exclamation marks required.

These limiting operators can be combined, as in the example shown by Althea.

Hope this helps - and I've not made any mistakes  :o

Hi everyone -
I thought I'd let you all know that we've just made available some new AtoJs content - 60,000 pages worth, including many returns lists full of names.  Hopefully there should be a few tidbits in here to tide you over until the upcoming Papers Past release comes online - enjoy!
