researching a widowed relative who remarried!
« on: Monday 06 August 12 02:06 BST (UK) »

Taylor Margaret (nee Stephenson)married Taylor George 1895 gateshead.  1901 Census shows george 25, Margaret 23 and Children; George 4, Robert 4, John 6wks residing at 21 Old Row Willington Durham.

In 1905 george taylor now 29 dies in a pit accident at New Brancepeth Colliery 25th January - buried at Brandon cemetary. Children are now 8,9 and 4.

Now I'm really stumped because Margaret remarries at some point and must leave Willington and moves back to the Gateshead/Newcastle area?

My grandfather Robert, was one of the children and i know he went to war from the Newcastle area in 1914 at aged 18 and subsequently married in the Hebburn area - twice!  First wife marion Burnett in 1920 who died after childbirth in 1921.  Second marriage December 1922 to Janet Round from Hebburn,

can anyone advise or even help on how to search the second marriage of Margaret Taylor.  I apologise as I know this is a tall order - but thank you to anyone who can undertake it  ???

Since posting this I have amended my post to include the new husband.
The next action I would take is to try and find George, Robert and John Taylor (hoping their last name has not been changed), on the 1911 Census.  Preferably living with  Margaret Trotter and her new husband. I looked up the Durham Mining Museum site to see if there is any more information on their site  and there are more details than usual but no compensation claim found. A few people searching for you ancestor on the site.

Hi

Margaret Taylor (nee Stephenson) married James Trotter 22 Sept 1906 in the South Shields Registration District

From FreeBMD James Trotter & Margaret Taylor Sept Qtr 1906 South Shields Reg Dist Vol 10a Page 1492

South Tyneside Register Office Index has the date of marriage and both Margarets married and maiden name.

thank you to radcliff, andycand and barryd. since this post i have subscribed to Ancestry, and completed my family history in a 45 page personal book.  yes, I am aware of researchers connected to my ancestors via Durham mining Museum - and (tongue in cheek) I work in my local library! (apart from a library edition of Ancestry which has its limitations - each individual library merely covers its own catchment area - mine being 14 mile radius.

thank you for your help

Are you saying you think the ancestry library edition only covers a certain library geographical radius?

The library edition in our library covers everything.

sorry for that bit of misinformation! The library edition covers everything, I was referring to the library's own Census and Parish Records in my home town.  I am from Lincolnshire, and each library has their own local census/parish records for their individual area - all available on reader printer/micro film.  Originally when we first subscribed to the library edition of Ancestry it did have limitations - this has since changed and offers full package for general public to access from the public computers.  I subscribed from home because I found that I was going to the library on my days off to access it!  However, as a standard subscriber I don't get everything -the  premium package offers more but I find it costly.  I promised myself not to get involved with my own tree as I help others daily at work-but sadly I got the bug and now I'm hooked haha!

Thank you all for your help
