Disappearing Daughters
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 21:37 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Hoping for some new eyes on this one

I'm trying to trace Cecily (c1883, Jesmond Northumberland) and Joslin (c1891, Jesmond Northumberland) after the 1901 census. They are the daughters of Charles Frank Forster (1847, Sunderland) and Emma Jane Foster (who dies in Chester Le Street in 1904)

I can't find any trace of marriages or deaths for them, or any trace of the family on the 1911 census - anyone have any ideas?

All help always appreciated and reciprocated where possible

Mads

Hi

I'm not sure if this is the same person, but there is a tree on Ancestry, with a photo, that has a Cecily Forster 1882 - 1952. They have her living in Jesmond in 1901 and marrying a Clarence Dalrymple Smith in 1904 in Bedford.

Found on 1911 Census with Charles Dalrymple Smith - and a Forster Sister-in-Law, so it is the correct person!

So chuffed!!!

The 1891 has a son Leslie Forster aged 2 mths - could this be "Joslin" in 1901?

Freebmd shows entry in March qtr 1891 for Leslie/Leslia

Yes Carole - I've just been looking at 'Joslin' on the 1901 and although the first letter does look like a 'J' the end of the word definitely doesn't look like 'in' - more 'ie' or 'ia'

You've been such a star - big brownie points, and if I can ever do anything to help back just let me know!
