Izzy,
My Name is Ian Clingan and I have just joined this site having been given info from another researcher.
I am in contact with relations in Glasgow who are directly connected to the Clingan/Rossini line. I am also distantly related.
If you still require info just shout be happy to oblige.
I have Williams line and am in contact with descendants in Glasgow. Also John Clingan & Agnes Bennet line which is in Australia. I am through Andrew's line.
I'm also interested in the immediate relations who went to Australia
Regards
Ian Clingan

Yes to the funeral directors - however there was a falling out between the brothers and only one continued in this line of work.

Live in Inverness.

Get back to you with various bits, including WW1 deaths.

Hi Ian
I forgot to ask you if you know of Mary Rossini she went to aus from Glasgow in
1929ish she was sponsored by Martha Webster and later married but I cant find out who her husband is or where she lived.
My mum remembers going to visit the Clingans with her dad when she was young but she couldnt remember how they were related until I found them on LDS,Ive gone back to the first Rossini who was born Italy but again I cant find out where in Italy he come from or his parents so Ive been a bit stuck as to were to go next.Thankyou for your offer of help and I will look forward to hearing from you.

Izzy,
Though I was looking at William I know that Antonio Rossini Clingan, his brother was killed during WWI.
However, it would appear that he was married and had at least one son named after him. I have no details of this marriage but will see what I can find - unless you have details.
I have just found this entry of entry to the USA where it appears the son emigrated to. It might be of interest to you.
Regards
Ian

It would appear he was married prior to his death and there was at least one son named after him.
I found these details of entry into the USA of that son as a single lad.

Hi Ian Happy new year to you and yours

Ian
Iknow its late and Im not very alert today but when was
Antonio who died in 1918 born?
I take it the Antonio [2] in usa 1910 was william and jessies son as he would have been born in1874 in Glasgow.
I have a list somewhere with every Clingan surname on Glasgow 1901 census I will look it out see if there is 2 Antonios which will be interesting to know it also might have a mother for the son.
I will get back to you tomorrow too late now.
Bye for now
