The accident is reported in the Derby Mercury on Wednesday 28th September 1897:-
Thomas Chambers aged 57 of 17 Harrow Road, Grantham employed by Messrs. Horosley, Engineers of
that Town, met with an accident at Brailsford on Tuesday evening. He had been repairing a traction engine belonging to Mr. Joseph Harrison, Farmer and while in motion he fell off, breaking his thigh. He now lies at
the Royal Infirmary.
The Tuesday mentioned would be 27th September and the Hospital would be The Derby Royal Infirmary.
