Hi
I'm trying to find George Henry Tate [born 1899?] who was working as a Police Constable in the Yorkshire Village of Heslington c1932. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Hi Pauline
Yes that looks entirely feasible. Do you know of any way of finding out about his career as a police constable? Would he have been the village bobby all his career and lived in the village or would he have moved around to other towns / villages etc. I'm off to see if I can find a marriage / children ...
Thanks for your help thus far :)
Martha

There is this possible death - DoB is a year adrift from the birth which has been found, but it may be worth obtaining the death certificate in case the occupation ("retired policeman"?) can be tied in with your man to give you something solid to work with:

Could there be able any Selby links? Date of birth very close
I may have found this lads military record from the Great War
His dad was James with a Selby address there are 32 pages including one asking for a reference in 1926 from civil service commissions which may be when he joined police
There's no other family stuff on it...he served in Poland in 1919
