Baptism of Sarah Burrs (or Burrows)
« on: Sunday 29 July 12 20:27 BST (UK) »
Hi

One of my ancestors was Sarah Burrs or Burrows. She married Nicholas Heald in Eyam in 1775 under the name Burrs. The couple moved to Braithwell in Yorkshire and had a number of children there. On the baptism for the children of Braithwell the vicar added notes and parents and grandparents. For Nicholas and Sarah's children it states the Sarah's parents were Robert and Hellen Burrows. She was born circa 1752 (this is from death on burial register).
When searching the Eyam register i did find a Joseph Burrs living in Eyam (possible Brother) but can't find no trace of Sarah's baptism anywhere.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

I have recently purchased the eyam parish registers but still can't find Sarah anywhere. There is a marriage for a Joseph Burr and a Mary Burr (would have thought they are related) but no baptism for a Sarah circa 1752 even without parents being Robert and Ellen. Very annoying brickwall

Hi Rich,

Sarah Burrs/Burrows and Nicholas Heald are direct ancestors of mine also. If you have any updates on what you have found please do let me know.

Looking through the baptism records of Sarah and Nicholas' children, I have found that Sarah's mother is not only listed as Hellen, but is also listed as Eleanour (eg. on Elisabeth's record which can be found here:  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G96B-TTC?i=221  ).

I will have a look in to this taking in to account that issue with the Eyam registers - that must have been so annoying for you! - and I'll come back with any updates.

Thanks
