   Mary Birch B 10 January 1904 Southwark

Can anyone help with search or suggestions where I can look next.

Mary Birch is My Aunt Daphne's birth mother. My aunt was fostered by my Nan 1n 1938 and stayed with my nan and was never officially adopted. Daphne is now in her seventies and would love to know if she has any siblings. Her mother Mary was one of 9 children born to George William Birch and Jane Parker. Sadly all but Mary died in childhood. Mary lost her parents shortly after and was alone when she had Daphne out of wedlock. Mary gave the fathers name as Arthur Dawson.  I have the census for 1901 and 1911 listing Mary with her family also all the baptism records birth records and death records of her family. Mary worked hard to bring up her daughter Daphne but struggled with her own health and finances and had to leave her daughter with my nan. Mary seems to have disappeared after 1940 as I have been unable to find any record of her after November 1939 when she was  living in almshouses at 11 Draper Street Walworth SE17 and was working at Kelly's Directories Rundel Street WC2.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated as Daphne has always believed that she has a brother and or a sister.

Hi

If you search FreeBMD, the transcribed General Registry Office index you will find there were three Birch birth registrations in the registration district that your aunt's birth was registered in, all with a mother's maiden name of Birch.
Like your aunt the other two, a male and female birth registation, may still be living, though there is a likely death registration for the male birth in Greenwich registration district in 1997, birthdate 21st October 1936. Rootschat isn't a forum for searching for living people or potentially living people but if these other two births prove to be related they were both older than your aunt and their families may be able to give you more information about Mary.

This topic gives further information which would rule out the earlier births unless Mary in records had supplied factually inaccurate information.
