LEACH and SEALE - ONTARIO

I am looking for descendants of Ross John Leach and Marion Victoria Seale.
I have their marriage info - they were married 22 April 1922 in Kingston, Ontario.  Their announcement in the newspaper said they were going to settle in Guelph Ontario after their honeymoon.  The next I found of them is that in 1998 they were buried in the New Greenwood Cemetery, Sault Ste Marie.
 
SO - looking for Obituary and any sign of their lives from 1922 to 1998 - children, achievements, etc.

Sometimes it can be worth looking for other family, especially if unusual surnames enter the tree by marriage.

He had sisters Cora/Coral L 1897/8 and Mable S 1900/1 (with parents Sarah Leach and Ernest W Leach). ... In 1911, they were in Oshawa, Ontario South district (Sarah, Earnst, Ross, Cora and Mable, all spelled that way).

Per marriage records at Anc'y (I don't pay for access, just used the free search), Mabel Sarrah Leach married Orval W B Howie in 1921 in Ontario county.

Canada411 has several Howies in Oshawa, one of whom is an "O" (a bit of an unusual initial), with another few in Whitby. It isn't the world's most common surname. Maybe someone somewhere has a tree with Orval Howie, for instance?

The children of Mabel Leach and Orval Howie would be first cousins of the children of Ross John Leach and Marion Victoria Seale.

Obituary 1967, contact info for Oshawa library. Buried in Oshawa Union Cemetery. (The Ross Leach marriage notice is listed there too, along with the 1932 and 1950 obituaries of the parents Ernest and Sarah.)

I'm assuming you are not just looking for obituaries / info for a tree, but actually want to find living family ...

If you do the search for "howie orval" you'll find a fair bit of info about him: Orvil Wilkie Brown Howie, worked at GM, etc. Reversing the names, we found that as a young man he accidentally shot himself in the head.

Someone at GenesReunited does have him in a tree there ... and he is in four trees at anc'y ... one of which is called Seale Family Tree. It seems odd that his wife Mabel Leach is shown there but with no parents, when the connection to the tree would be Marion Seale, one would think, who is in that tree along with RJ Leach. Of course, perhaps that tree is yours or someone's in your family.

It looks like the local branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society keeps their collection in the library.   I don't know if the librarians will search this collection for you, or if they will refer you to the OGS branch.  The OGS charges a fee for its research services.  It isn't a lot, but it isn't free...

The Guelph library might be able to help you find out what they did in Guelph (might be a profession listed in a local directory, or a birth listed in the local paper...etc)

We have fairly strict privacy laws here in Ontario.  Birth records (for any descendents of your couple) for the time period you are intereste in (after 1922) are protected information, so are not publicly available.  Likewise, marriage records for any children they may have had are also protected information.  Death records past 1938 or so are also private.  Our most recent census, covering ONtario, was 1911.  The 1921 census should be released next year, but this won't help you with your Leach family.

So, things like newspaper announcements, city directories, cemetery information, etc are where you have to look.  A local library, or branch of the Ontario Genealogical society, can be a helpful resource for finding these sorts of records.

Janey has given you some great ideas for tracing potential cousins for this family.  Hopefully, some of these leads can answer your questions about this couple and their descendents.

Yes, The Seale Family Tree is mine, and I do have info - I am looking for living relatives.  Was hoping to find some named on the obituaries.  I found some other family that way, in Winnipeg. 

I will have to look into that "shooting in the head" business - love the odd stories.

Wonder where did the 'Seale' family originate?  It is a name in Co. Laois, Ireland.

Yes Danishdots.
But they were originally from England.  My ancestor was a personal guard to William of Orange, and for his service, and bravery in the Battle of the Boyne, he was given lands in Ireland.  I am almost back to this person, just one generation away - the Irish Pedigree of Seale Family has given a couple of choices but in early 1900's they could not make the connection.  Records are hard to come by in Ireland, so many are lost.

Networking, pestering and persistance DOES pay off - lol
