Annie Walker is listed as aged 25 on her marriage certificate, and as 70 on her death certificate.  This would place her year of birth somewhere between roughly 1844 and 1847.

I don't know of any siblings of Annie's either.  The first I see of Annie and her husband John in the census is the 1881 census for Scotland (presumably the first time they were living in Scotland after their marriage in 1872).  Annie's age is 32 and her estimated birth year 1849.  In this and other (later) census entries her place of birth is listed as Ireland.  Another of their sons (in addition to their son John Thomson) is Henry Walker Thomson, so the Walker name makes a reappearance.

Had a look for Henry Walker deaths.  Would it have said on Annie's marriage certificate if her father was deceased?  If it would have said so, he seems to be alive at the date of her marriage (1872); but he is definitely dead by her own death in 1904.  There are a few Henry Walkers who would have been old enough to have a child (Annie) in the mid-late 1840s, and dying sometime between 1872 and 1904.  For example http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=angs-c&gsfn=Henry&gsln=Walker&msddy=1882&gskw=carpenter&cpxt=1&catBucket=rstp&uidh=yj3&msddp=10&_83004003-n_xcl=f&cp=8&mssng0=Jane&pcat=BMD_DEATH&h=1606850&recoff=4+5&db=FSIrelandCivRegDeath&indiv=1

I haven't looked for Henry Walker and Jane Hutchinson.  I had just thought the proximity of Henry Walker and Jane English in the initial post might have been promising (though it wasn't!).

By the way, I am having similar problems on the Thomson side of the family, i.e. Annie's husband's side.  Finding the Irish side quite bewildering because of the differences in available records etc.

Sorry, just realised the above link might not work.

It is:

Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958
Henry Walker, age 50, 1876 Belfast registration district, volume 6 page 217

An extra piece of info - according to the 1881 Census, John and Annie's first son, John Thomson, was born in Glasgow in 1875, so it seems they came from Ireland to Scotland sometime between their marriage in 1872 and John's birth in 1875.

I think earlier I misread reference to Henry Walker being deceased on marriage certificate (1872) whereas it was Anne's 1914 death certificate that listed him as dead.

Don't think that's the correct Henry Walker death in 1876- that one was an engine driver with a widow named Margaret.
"Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Henry Walker late of 8 Fleet-street Belfast Engine Driver deceased who died 19 June 1876 at same place were granted at Belfast to Margaret Walker of Belfast the Widow of said deceased."

The marriage certificate only says "Belfast" for residence of both John and Annie, unfortunately.

Have you tried the Scotlands People site for birth of John in 1875 Glasgow? If he was born in Scotland date and place of parent's marriage should be on certificate as well as names of parents.
