Hi, My family had been told my grandfather went to South Africa and never returned. I have found a record :-
John McCallum Brass Moulder from Dumbarton Road, Govan arriving back in Southampton in 1929. His wife Catherine had died in 1926 and his children were fostered by their grandmother Bridget Gilhooly in Hamilton.
His mother and father were still living in Dumbarton Road in 1929.
Don't know were he went after his arrival. He may have married again or left the UK. Anyone got any ideas?
