Hugh MacKEY

I have received Hugh MacKEY's probate and it does not say where he was born in it.
He had sons
James MacKEY, Thomas MacKEY, George Herbert MacKEY and Edward Hugh MacKEY
Daughter's Hannah McNAUGHTON, Elizabeth Jane FAGAN, Catherine HASZARD and Ellen Sarah MacKEY

I have not found a marriage yet for Ellen Sarah MacKEY as she was still single in 1905 - 1906 or James and Thomas.

James and Thomas have no middle name so makes it a bit harder.


Am waiting on email of death printout for Hugh MacKEY

Have now found that James died 1933 NSW, Australia and married a Sarah MORAN in 1878. They had 6 children.

I thought I had found a death for Thomas MacKEY in Auckalnd 1926 but have found from records he was born in England so not the one I am looking for.

So the search continues for the death of Thomas and Ellen

Hugh's wife Ellen died 1903.

I guess I need to find out where all the children were born and work from there.

I have just received Hugh's death printout and he was born in County Donegal, Ireland but does not say exactly where.

He had been in NZ for 57 years

Parents were not named on the printout

So the person's tree I mentioned in Reply #1 got their facts wrong ....  always pays to follow up with verification.

The information I have for my family on that site is half wrong.

The printout was a bit disappointing in that Hugh's parentage was not shown. But at least you were given the name of the County of his birth and not just "Ireland".

Maybe we have to come forward a bit in order to go back? Does that sound Irish??

I note that George Herbert MacKey died in 1953. Perhaps a look at his newspaper death notice may reveal details of his family? If so, it may then be possible to track down a living member of this branch?

Yes KHP,

They were going on the info given to them and none of it has been verified  from what I was told by them. Might send the death printout to them so they can change their info and show that it has been verified.

I think I will have to email NZSG and see if they have Thomas MacKEY's parents on his death for 1926 as the funeral director is the same one that was used for Hugh.

G.H.MacKEY's death was Auckland 22/10/1953 died Kingseat, near Papakura according to probate.  It looks like at some stage his wife and children left and went to California, USA when the will was made in November 1944

That is a good idea KHP as I have found no death in NZ for George Herbert MacKEY's wife. Her name was:
