Wonder where Kororareka is. That is where the ship "Shamrock" landed, from what I saw in the notes of the above tree.

Cheers

Ok, only a suggestion, fire off an email or snail letter to NZSG up there and see what they have on their records.  They might have something on the ship landing.  The family could have stayed up there for a little while before heading off to Auckland.

Hello Newbe...

Apparently there's an 1898 obituary for Hugh MacKEY in (I think) the NZ Herald. Might mention if he's Irish or English

NZ Card Index
http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/nzcardindex/

then search using...

mackey, hugh

------

IFHF has a Hugh MacKEY b.1820 in Donegal, parents John and Margaret.

Also 2 x Sarah MacKEY both b.1823, parents Samuel and Bevin.

Not sure of where in Donegal as you have to pay for that info.

It's free to register and search the index.

Possibly red herrings so think twice before using the credit card.

Mundia has most of the trees on ancestry. It's free to register but is a very slow website. I think it will eventually become part of ancestry so make the most of it while you can.

The "Halifax" tree found by KHP is on there.

Just curious. How do you know that your Hugh and Sarah came from Killaghtee. Is it just because of the info in the 2002 post to which you linked. Or do you have other proof.

Regards
Beg
